Maliceking

The sprite of The King of Malice and Shade, which is his only appearance in the entire game.

The Malice King, also known as The King of Malice and Shade, is the main antagonist of the game.

Description[]

The Malice King is a being that is wreaking havoc upon the entire world. His minions plague every place in every corner. He is even talked about in legends. The goal in Dego is to find him and defeat him once and for all so that the people may live in peace. He has an envoy that oversees everything for him.

Fighting Style[]

The Malice King has four phases. The first three occur in random order.

In his first phase, he uses the following attacks:

  • Fires five dark balls. They can kill players even with high HP and Defense if all of them hit.
  • Fires dark balls in eight directions in a boomerang-like fashion, then teleports to a random location and fires eight dark balls again.
  • Shoots a giant fireball that deals heavy damage.
  • Creates a barrier that reflect projectiles. Reflected projectiles will deal damage to players.

In his second phase, he uses the following attacks:

  • Make fire erupt from the ground. This can be easily dodged by being in between the erupting fires.
  • Homes in on players' locations and attacks them with a fire, lightning, or non-elemental attack, which may cause burn or shock if it's the fire or lightning one.
  • Teleports to a random location and fires four dark balls.
  • Link with a random player. All damage he takes is reduced by half and shared with the linked player.

In his third phase, he uses the following attacks:

  • Shoots four ice grenades in four different directions. They can freeze players.
  • Emits a sonic wave for a short period of time, which will create a projectile that homes in on the attacking player when taking damage. The projectiles can inflict shock on players.
  • Shoots five sound waves that confuses players. He can change direction while using this.

In his final phase, he uses the following attacks:

  • The boomerang dark balls from the first phase.
  • The fire eruption from the second phase.
  • The damage-sharing link from the second phase.
  • The ice grenades from the third phase.

Strategy[]

Having a lot of HP and Defense may not be enough, as his damage is very high and his attacks are hard to avoid. Being able to dodge his attacks helps to defeat him, or otherwise make use of holy shields created by the Paladin's Level 1 skill, the Blood Shield special, or the throne at the top end of the room to block his projectiles. Since some of the most threatening attacks are his defensive skills like the sonic wave and the damage-sharing link, a hit and run tactic is an effective strategy to make sure players don't accidentally kill themselves. It is highly recommended to not bring equipment with damage reflection effects unless another player with a revive skill is present, since this will risk an infinite damage loop should the player hit the Malice King while under the link.
